Project Description
Fakenham Medical Centre forms a healthcare campus which delivers primary care, community care and adult social services to the local community. The scheme was part of the Norfolk integrated care pilot designed to better integrate services to improve patient care and co-located the three services, who also share staff facilities and meeting spaces to ensure more effective collaboration.
We delivered the scheme on behalf of the Fakenham Medical Practice, who were relocating from their existing, outdated premises. After investigating several sites we were able to secure the preferred site on the Practice’s behalf and helped them negotiate NHS funding for the new building. We also worked with the PCT and the Practice on a building redesign part way through funding approval to ensure the project could provide capacity for additional services and to develop a minor theater suite.
The completed building was designed by PSD our healthcare Architects and constructed by HCC – specialist healthcare builders. We also retain land adjacent to the site which will provide an affordable housing scheme with 70 extra-care units: continuing the health and social care provision on the site.
